My dear Wesley:
Received your blue print as well as your
letter about the Chapel. I have studied the drawing
through, and understand it thoroughly with the exception
of a few minor things.
First, on the flat skylights, you do not
indicate anywhere whether or not this skylight should
be raised above or lowered below the slab. Also you indicate a channel iron which is supposed to tie into the
wall. I cannot very well figure out how I am going to do
that. Please give me detailed information on this.
As far as the main skylight and the lower
are concerned, I understand everything except how I am
going to tie the vertical T's into Beam H Wall Return.
How you indicate on cross-tie beams, or you might call
them beams which reach from bowtie to bowtie, several
steel which should be chopped in to bowties about 18
inches. As you know, the bowties are not solid. Will
it make any difference? As to pouring that beam, I do
not know that it will heel up with the bowtie.
As far as the lower skylight is concerned,
I understand it thoroughly except I am afraid when we
chop the drain holes into the parapet, you might run into
steels. We have written to the people in Grand Rapids,
but we have not heard from them as yet.
Hoping my letter finds you and Mr. Wright
in the best of health. Write as soon as you can.
Sincerely yours,
ROBERT D. WEHR
