Dear Brother Wright:
Since you wrote to Dr. Spivey authorizing him
to pay me only the measley sum of $25.00 a week of course, there
was nothing left for me to do but seek work elsewhere.
Of course, no one else except you knows the
relations of the "hated" corporation and things of the Fellow-
ship.
But just the same I respectfully ask you
once more not to mix them up in your own mind. What relation
could the sum paid to a member of the Fellowship (a boy actually
paying to go to school) have to a fair amount paid to me? To
be sure, as you reminded me, I am only one seventh of the corpora-
tion, but even one seventh is more than anyone's else interest
who is interested in a similar way, because, as far as I know,
there are no others interested ina similar way at all.
You are not holding up the building,
waiting for redesigning the Chapel but in my humble opinion,
hurting the collections of considerable subscriptions. Dr.
Spivey is of the opinion that your delays have absolutely
nothing to do with finances and that is fine if true. But if
it is true, then you could well afford to send me some kind of a check on account.
Time is my only capital, but with Beth laid
up it is impossible for me to pick up and go elsewhere just on
account of your unaccountable reactions.
Wes and I were of the opinion that if the
drawings of the four corners (construction) could be had right
away, one could at least go on with that, but of course I would
any day choose Wes as a superintendent in preference to myself,
if and when he can come. Furthermore, I explained (voluntarily)
the possible reason for your seeming coolness to me, perhaps paving the way for Wes's taking my place.
There could be no
disputing by anyone that I know of but that Wes could "carry on"
better than I.
William Wesley Peters was one of Mr. Wright's on-site supervisors for the Child of the Sun buildings. This item is a carbon copy. There are two holes punched in the top of both pages. There are holes in the top left hand corner of both pages caused by staples that were removed.
