A newspaper (The Miami Metropolis, page 4) dated March 2, 1914 identified 3 packing houses built in the Cocoanut Grove area in the past "several years" and noted that they were in relationship to the Citrus Exchange which began in 1909. Also, considering Florida weather, the building in the photograph shows very few signs of wear (paint seems even, no discoloration from water runoff, no broken windows). The date range is based on these features.
